NYW Flags - Jacobite regt Marquis de Boisseleau 1690

1st Battalion The Marquis of Boisseleau regt

I'm planning on painting up some of the Jacobite units that fought at The Battle of the Boyne and at the Battle of Aughrim. One regiment that I will be painting is that of the Marquis de Boisseleau's regiment of two battalions. Unfortunately there is no record of what uniform, if any the regiment wore and what their flags may have looked like. After following the link on the League of Augsberg site, I decided to make my own version of the flag,  Hopefully some of you may find it useful.

  4. I clicked on the link Ray and that's an intense discussion they've got going on there. I like the colors you've chosen and the design makes sense based on the ideas that were being batted around. Now that the painting challenge is done, you're becoming a posting animal Ray.

    1. I've got so much stuff to catch up on, I wasn't going to post this one until I'd painted the units up, but someone was asking about info on the flags on the TMP page so I thought I'd post it.

    2. It was a good discussion and interesting to read. I've been wanting to tell you guys that the TMP found one of my mini posts and there was a discussion about me!! 334 of them came to my site in one day, so I followed the link back. But the discussion wasn't at all scholarly and because I'm not a member, I couldn't put in my two cents. They were gossiping about me like hens over there!!

    1. Apparently, the iPad app, Flipboard, DOES post comments, afterall...it just doesn't show them once posted. :/

  11. Very cool! I might need your services for when I stage a coup in the neighborhood...it wouldn't be right without a flag...

  12. Great job on that flag. Looks very credible, and will look great on the battlefield. Now I'm looking forward to seeing the unit to go with it.

  13. Nice flags...

Oh it reminded me of the Eddie Izzard - do you have a flag sketch!

We stole countries! That's how you build an empire. We stole countries with the cunning use of flags! Just sail halfway around the world, stick a flag

  16. Aside from enjoying reading the blog, which is always a good read, the service you're providing gamers with the flag and uniform information is really useful. It's not a five minute job to keep up this level of commitment, so many thanks.

  22. Inspirarional Ray. With so much conjecture in that period, anything goes, but those flags look real. I am tempted to copy them!!!

  25. Excellent work Ray. How do you get them to print out at the right size for the figures?

    1. Download it, then copy it to a word document, then you can size it for whatever scale figures you need.
