Why Men Cry.............

..................when they drop 5 file boxes full of figures!
That's when!!
As I'm painting up some Moors for Tangiers I thought I'd have a look in my shed
to find my EL Cid/Moor collection, just to see what I actually have. (They've not seen
the light of day for some time??)

I was quite surprised to find 7 file boxes full to the brim with figures, all from my WAB days long ago. There were even  some painted by Fran, that I'd forgotten I even bought??
While some of the other
figures need to go on ebay fast, they were painted in my early wargaming days with what
looks like a 4 inch brush and a tin of Dulux!
But........while sorting through the 6th box I knocked the bloody lot off my desk.......
%$£*(&@^$£"!!!!!
I cannot type what I said
but I think you can probably guess.
I looked down at the mess on the floor and could of cried!

When I'd recovered from the shock and the mourning set in, (which was around 2 hours)
I tried to put them back in their boxes , it took me well over an hour to put all the figures minus spears, shield's, swords and Christ knows what else, back in their boxes!
Now I gotta admit, some looked a hell of a lot better all smashed and broke.
But to say I'm gutted doesn't quite cut it!

But on the bright side, I've ripped up my Gripping Beast shopping list for SELWG next Sunday.
Anyone else going??

  1. I feel your pain... I still haven't worked up the nerve to look at my GB Vikings that plummeted out of the loft and down the stairs (twice!!).

I'm going to SELWG on Sunday...it's my closest show and usually a good day out.

Time for some drastic action; strip, reassemble, re-base, and re-paint! You can have all that done by next weekend, right...?

  7. Sometimes gravity can be a very cruel physical law. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss and stunned that your legendary balletic grace failed you at such a critical moment. I think the only sane thing you can do id go about and buy some more mini's to take your mind of those that have "fallen from grace". I'm pretty sure the vendors will give you a grief discount.

  13. Sometimes in life it is not what happens but how you deal with it. Many people will have had similar accidents. And behaved much worse. If you care about it, it will hurt.

I should see you at SELWG next weekend. But only a MINIMAL shopping list for me!

    1. When Fran had a box of Samurai cav knocked over, he couldn't take the pain, and rather than spend hours re-gluing and re-painting he through them all in the bin!!! Mad Man!!!

    2. WE all deal with things differently. And each of us is right to do so. As our reactions are based on our history and that is different for everyone!

Gosh that makes me sound clever, which as you know I am not, so put me down for kicking Lee in the shins as well!

  14. Hate to read posts like this one :-( Hope with fresh eyes it's not quite as bad as it seems and the repair work does not go on forever

  16. Oh no, that's bloody awful!

If it makes you feel any less bad, there was an SoA member a couple of years ago who dozed off on the train, waking up only just in time for his stop. He jumped off in that woken-up-in-a-panic state, completely forgetting he'd commenced his journey carrying a competition-ready, all options 28mm DBMM army! Needless to say, said army didn't show up in lost and found...

  21. That's a real pain in the whatsist mate! My leads are, bit by bit, making their way onto magnetic strip and into 'Really Useful Boxes' lined with steel paper. They've easily survived a couple of car trips and the effects of gravity because of this clumsy b****r. Worth a thought.

  23. Ouch that sucks dude! I dropped the forearm piece from one of my Studio miniatures last week it took the best part of an hour crawling around the floor to find the dam piece! Sympathies for all the busted stuff that you've got to mend now.
