The move went well, a few things have gone missing though as they do, I still haven't found my electric shaver, so I've been walking round all unkempt, so I had to go old skool and buy a wet razor. That's a tenner less on figures now!!
The pic above is my soon to be Wargaming Room, but I think my soon, is a completely different soon than Mrs R is thinking. AS you can see its still full up with unopened boxes. Now a lot of these are mine, I used to collect 45 records, back in the 80's and 90's, but when Abi, Daughter no2 was born in 1994, they all went up in the loft, now I knew I had a few, but didn't quite realise there were 46 boxes of them!!
So these need sorting out, I thinking of selling some and hiding the rest back up the new loft, but who knows???
We were waved off by Postie and Alison as we drove off, Posties not happy I'm moving away, and I will admit its gonna be strange not having my pal living next door anymore.
Postie and Alison shedding a tear!!! Yeh right!!
We're a week in after the move and its not a lot better, still got tons to do, just to try and get straight, so there's not going to be much hobby time for me, although saying that, some of the Rejects met up on our Monday paint and chat and had another go of Reject Richard's 16th Century Navel rules, he's a clever chap our Richard, he does have the knack of writing a decent set of rules, Here's a link to his write up of the game on his blog,
My Wargaming Habit, And a few pics from the game too.
Both stolen from Richard's blog
Lastly 4 Rejects are going round Reject Dan's house for a game of Rapid Fire, It's my first game of Rapid Fire so I'm really looking forward to it!!
Moving is always a big deal, even bigger when you're a wargamer! Hope all your kit has survived the transit (not that you'll know until about two years from now! :D). All the best to you in your new digs and hope you're back with some hobby space sooner rather than later...
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Aaron
I missed that part out of the post Aaron, All my figures, paints and everything else is all in Posties shed, waiting for a space to appear in the new house. That also means no games in the shed, unless we wanna play on a 4x4 table!!
DeleteAfter moving last summer with all my wargaming and hobby kit, I've made the decision I'll just die in this house rather than try to move it all again. Especially given how my terrain collection has, erm, "blossomed" in the last year! Wishing you well in the new space Ray, and hoping your hobby room achieves full operational status sooner rather than later!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, I said the same to Emma, my next move will be in a coffin! Unless I win the lottery of course!
DeleteDespite all the moves I've done (former military), they do get harder every time. I think everyone has a version of your 45 collection that they rediscover at those times. Good luck on settling in and getting up and running again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed, I don't usually get stressed but this is stressful!
DeleteCongratulations on the move. It's always a little exciting when moving into a new place. Hope you have a big shed in the garden
ReplyDeleteAfraid not, but the garage will be, when I clear it all out!!
DeleteLooking forward to seeing your game room stood up. Maybe you can post WIP shots of the progress. Didn't know Postie was right next door to you. Also, quite a record collection you have!
ReplyDeleteI do plan to do a progress post sometime along the way. And yes 35 years living next door to Postie.
DeleteA move always upsets hobby life but I'm glad you are faring quite well Ray.
ReplyDeleteWe're trying Andrew.
DeleteThat is a lot of 45 records...
ReplyDeleteHope you dig out the game room soon!
Me too Alex!
DeleteLooks like you survived the move, and you survived Richard's last naval battle too! Enjoy Dan's Rapid Fire game.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's the plan, Jon!
DeleteI remember moving with small children. Ugh! It's not the most comfortable thing to do – not to mention transporting miniature ;))
ReplyDeleteAll my figures are around Posties still. I want to move all those myself......just incase!
DeleteGood luck in your new house and most importantly the new hobby room! Hopefully your not to far away from Postie to get those games in when you have time again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, it's only a 5 minute drive away, so not to far.
DeleteWell done on the move Ray. So, you're the one stopping a game at Postie's!
ReplyDeleteLucky there are others to provide some wargaming relief.
Looking forward to seeing progress in your hobby space.
I am indeed Rich. I'm still in chock how much stuff I pulled out of my shed! It's obscene!
DeleteGlad the move went well. Sorry you had to move away from your buddy. The pictures of them crying and then the one with the sign were fun to see. You're funny. They are too. Wishing you a wonderful new adventure ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks I've, sad times, but it had to be.
DeleteGood to see that the move went relatively painless Ray, I feel your pain collecting vinyl, I still do and it fills a fair bit of space!
ReplyDeleteThe records have been locked in my loft for 31 years. There's a lot to go through!
DeleteI am dreading having to move, which my wife occasionally hints at, once we are finally on our own (so I am not chasing my 23 year old son to move out- while he is still living with us, I am safe!)
ReplyDeleteSWMBO intends a downsize in the next place, and I already have space challenges with my collection, so that's another concern....hopefully, we just stay put another decade or more then move into a retirement village!
It's scary Keith, I don't mind admitting it!
DeleteGlad the move went well Ray. Best of luck indeed sorting through all those boxes and setting up your space again! (And aren't vinyls en vogue right now? You could sell some classics/rare discs off to fund your hobby for a while, I'd venture?)
ReplyDeleteI probably do Dai. I paid a hefty price for some Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly EP's in the 90's, gawd knows what they're worth now?
DeleteI'll bet you are happy that the move is behind you, although finding new homes for everything can take months. Some of those 45s must be worth a but as you say Ray, especially the first pressings.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Lawrence! Some of the 45's must go, to make room for my wargames hoarde!
DeleteThat sure is a lot of vinyl Ray, good luck with the new house and gaming room!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cyrus, I'm gonna need all the luck I can get!
DeleteThe important thing about a move is the new location getting recentered to the newer place. Looks like a lot of that is about to happen! Congrats on a well designed room!
ReplyDeleteCheers Joe!
DeleteGood luck with that move I’m sure you’ll settle soon, any boxes not opened in a year then ditch them !
ReplyDeleteSounds a good idea Matt!
DeletePoor ol' Stuart. I bet he's missing you terribly.
ReplyDeleteOf course he is!
DeleteHuzzah!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
