Its back to my 15mm Vienna 1683 project for my first October post of the year.
May I present the Graf Herbeville Dragoons
The figures are as per usual from my favourite 15mm manufacturer Essex Miniatures.
The flags are pure conjecture and made up, I'm afraid, as I couldn't find any information on their banners at all.
The regiment were raised on 15th March 1683, because of the threat from the Turks, by Col Oberst Ludwig Count Herbeville.
Primarily raised from men from Lower Austria, but 200 men were transferred from the Sarau Dragoons and 100 men each from the Schulz, Castell and Kueffstien regiments.

So there's only 2 units for the Holy League plus artillery and Commanders left to paint up, plus the Reserve Brigade for the Turks!

One of my favourite project!
ReplyDeleteLovely looking unit!
Its certainly a fun project to paint up Michal.
DeleteVery nice indeed
ReplyDeleteThanks Sgt!
DeleteLooking good, Ray!
ReplyDeleteCheers Jon!
DeleteI simply can't get over how quickly you paint these splendid units up, Ray. They look superb, and I for one would have no idea that their banners were fictious if you hadn't said so.
ReplyDelete15mm's very easy to paint up Simon.
DeleteLovely and always nice to see enthusiasm for Essex
ReplyDeleteI do love an Essex figure Norm!
DeleteGreat bunch of riders!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex.
DeleteGreat looking late 17th century cavalry, Ray. Interesting to see how uniforms evolved during this period.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, there's not a great deal of difference between these and your ECW figures.
DeleteThe Imperials/Austrians are my weakness! I love their army and their black-and-yellow banners, regardless of the historical period
ReplyDeleteThe flags are always quite beautiful, but I right bugger to paint up, that's why I print them off!
DeleteLovely cavalry...and banners Ray!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil.
DeletePretty strange headwear for dragoons. Seems like a good Mexican cavalry unit. Unusual.
ReplyDeleteNo, its pretty normal for this period. A luvvly floppy hat!
DeleteLovely work Ray
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil.
DeleteA very smart regiment Ray. Essex make some nice little figures and you have painted them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThey really do Lawrence, I love them.
DeleteFantastic Dragoons Ray!
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you like them.
DeleteGreat figures and wonderful brush work Ray. They will look great on the table.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that Count Herbeville would approve the flags. 😁
I hope so Ben?
DeleteLovely looking regiment Ray, very nice job on them, the uniform really "pops", the look great.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice looking unit, I will admit.
DeleteAnother nice unit added to the roster Ray.
ReplyDeleteCheers Keith!
DeleteVery nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Andy
Thanks Andy!
