Recently Painted No 37 15mm Spanish Napoleonic Pioneers

More recently painted figures from Posties collection painted by moi!!

Today's outing of Napoleonic loveliness are a small detachment of  Pioneers from the Spanish Princesa regiment. Who wear what may be the 1802 blue uniform, officially replaced in 1805 but they continued to wear the old uniform after this date until it wore out!! The grey uniformed figures are the Princesa regt in their fatigue uniform, just incase you were wondering!!
The figures in the first picture are based so they can attach and combine with their infantry regiment, or be kept separate as a small but  Elite attacking unit, while the random shaped bases are for construction purposes such as digging trenches, building bridges and fortifications.

  9. Nice job, Ray. Yep...nothing like digging a latrine or two for the officers (I know, I did my share of digging in the early '60s).

  10. I like the colour on these uniforms the best. Ray, are they digging latrines or are they digging trenches? I see some of the officers with shovels, so I thought trench warfare.

  14. Cheers for the comments guys'n'gals!!
@Anne- Not trench warfare like WWI, the Pioneers were the manual labour boys of the army, digging latrines, building bridges, making defence works, cutting through wooded areas and all that kind of stuff. Sometimes they were used to batter in doors with axes, and were quite a well respected bunch.
