Bloody hell that's some title!!!!!
Anyway firstly, more of my plastic Gripping Beast command stands. I like the first one the best, I've always liked this flag, perhaps because it reminds me of bacon???
Seb over at Back to the Minis is having a massive blog giveaway this week, he's already announced two lots of prizes, so get on over to his blog and sign up for some free goodies. Here Seb 1 and here Seb 2.
The second blog givaway is over on Burkhard's blog, dhcwargamesblog. Burkhard's also celebrating a blog birthday and other blog milestones as well. Check out his blog, you may win yourself a book. I'm after the 1815 Waterloo book....fingers crossed!!!!
Lastly fellow blogger Mark, better known as The Wilde Goose, is releasing a new range of figures over on his new blog Orinoco Miniatures. He showed me a few pics when we met up at Salute in April and now they're up on his site. He's releasing figures for Wars of the South American Liberation, his first release will be the British Legion, followed by Spanish Regulars and Gran Columbian/Patriot Infantry. Check out the figures, they're very nice!!!
Smashing work, Ray!
ReplyDeleteI have my eye on Burkhard's Waterloo book, too, so get your mitts off! However, I could let you have it for a negotiated amount, if I do win ;-)
I'm sure you've got enough Napoleonic books Ben??
DeleteWONDER NORDICS THANKS!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking command bases there Ray!!
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying these Vikings Ray. Did you make all these flags as well?
ReplyDeleteI saw you at Sebs place asking for those Blood Bowl figures. I think they would look great in a dio with some of your Essex figures. You could start a whole new genre of gaming :)
Yep, I made all the flags!! As for Seb's prize, you never know Anne!!
DeleteFantastic...looking so fierce!!
ReplyDeletePhil.
Great looking stuff there Ray. I'm always tempted by Saga.
ReplyDeleteYep, they look good. And I'm also after the Waterloo book.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Seb
Great painting and basing Ray.
ReplyDeleteGreat attention to detail Ray. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Bacon!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmm!
DeleteBeautifull !
ReplyDeleteNice Flags Ray. Everyone loves bacon. For future reference Black and Purple are INCREDIBLY hard to dye using dark age technology in Europe. So black cloth would be VERY rare indeed check out how much "black" was used on the Bayoux Tapestry for example.
ReplyDeleteVery nice vikings Ray !!!
ReplyDeletebest regards Michael
Very very nice work on the command stands Ray!
ReplyDeleteGreat work on those Vikings!
ReplyDeleteAnother set of very nice looking Viking stands Ray!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Great looking command bases - and the flags are superb. I like the idea of a Bacon-Inspired band of Vikings!
ReplyDeleteMiles
Me too!
DeleteGreat figures especially the shield patterns and look of the chainmail
ReplyDeleteNice job on the figures. I think all of the flags are really cool.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, bacon :)
ReplyDeleteThat second flag looks like a pigeon...
...never tried pigeon tho...
Nor me and I'm not sure I really want to either???
DeletePigeon is quite tasty, a bit like a cross between liver and chicken. You just don't get much of it!
DeleteVery nice command stands there.
ReplyDeleteGood look on the Waterloo book, I'm reading it at the moment
Ian
It does look interesting.
DeleteGood stuff Ray. Are the first batch of shields free-hand?
ReplyDeleteFMB
Only the plain red and the blue and red ones are hand painted.
DeleteSweet looking Vikings Ray, me likes em...
ReplyDeleteNice looking bunch. Some pretty expressive faces on the figures. And as usual I love the banners.
ReplyDeleteBacon...English for meat candy! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe units look really nice. You really should check out selling your flags, they look fanastic. It may not make you rich, but I bet it would aid in recruiting MORE unpainted minions!
That's a good point David!
DeleteBeautiful job on these. Flags are excellent and I love the work on the shields.
ReplyDeleteCheers Joe!
DeleteGreat paint job. But when the first flag reminds you of bacon, what is the second????
ReplyDeleteMaybe some advertising for some dark age "Norwegian fried chicken"???
Wondeful models...
Hmm? Norwegian fried chicken!!!
DeleteThank you for the mention, Ray. The Waterloo book seems to be the all round favourite right... Lets see who gets it.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Vikings (and what you said in the previous post)... I did not mind the assembly too much, but I felt the undercuts on the chainmail were bad, so I ended up resculpting most of it.
But you did a bleeping fine job on the paintjob here!
The thing that bothered me the most was the heads were cast on the sprue on the top of their helmet, so when you cut them off you had to muck around trying to get the helmet looking nice. Why wasn't the head connected by the bottom of the neck????
DeleteNice work but not all you're own I hear, Postie did the shields he says!
ReplyDeleteDon't take any notice what Postie says???????
DeleteGreat looking command stands - all of the banners are cool. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteVery nice stands ! Congratulations !
ReplyDeleteGreat work Sir Ray
ReplyDeleteCheers
Very tasty Ray.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Boss. BTW, the stone on the base in picture 1-3 reminds me of a Porterhouse Steak!
ReplyDeleteYum yum!
DeleteGreat command stands and your banners are the cherry on top! If I ever go to war, I'm going to ring in and ask you to make my side a flag or banner. Maybe with boobs. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can do that!!
DeleteYour vikings look incredible, Ray, and the banners are real winners!
ReplyDeleteCheers Bard
DeleteAnother batch of great looking figures Ray and your flags are outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm a fan of this bacon flag.
ReplyDeleteGreat Viking command stands Ray! The wild boar flag is a real winner.
ReplyDeleteI like these command stands. They look awesome. I also like bacon but I did not let my love for all things bacon flavoured sway my opinion.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Did you mention bacon???
DeleteNice work on this command unit.. love the banners especially!
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff. Especially the flags!
ReplyDeletelove the banners and the little shields, Ray!
ReplyDeleteThese dudes kick some major butt, Ray. As always, I'm a huge fan of the flags. Great job.
ReplyDeleteFantastic vikings, Ray. I´m also watching that "Orinoco Miniatures"; it is a period very interesting for me.
ReplyDeleteIt is an unusual period, but very interesting!
DeleteThose are great and the pictures are fantastic. Very cool.
ReplyDeletePS: I don't know what Bug was thinking, but she wasn't in trouble at the time, so it can't be that.
Ray. I got completely distracted by bacon. Now that is all I can think about...and I know that I have a pound of salty, greasy thick sliced bacon in my fridge...you see where my morning is going now, don't you?
ReplyDeleteLovely paintjob and those flags (and shields) look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Matt
