Almansa 1707 - Spanish - Rufo's Brigade 2mm

The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge is well and truly over, Its know time for the lull in proceedings, which always seems to happen when the Challenge finishes, BUT, I still have a few brigades to finish off to complete my Almansa project........

I have believe it or not been busy and got a few brigade's nearly finished but Rufo's (sometimes written as Ruso's) completed. Their position on the battlefield, can be seen in the pic above squared in blue.

Its only a small brigade of 6 squadrons of Spanish Horse.

The 2 units that comprise the brigade are...

Milan in white and Grenada Nuevo in blue.

Once again the flags are generic NYW period flags, but I think they fit in well.

This flag is actually an Infantry flag, but I ran out of cavalry flags and cut these down to fit.
Rufo's brigade fought in the second line of the left wing under Lt General Abre.

AHPC 13 - My Challenge 13 Wrap up

or I think I'm gonna need a bigger table?

Mistake No 1, I asked my daughter Holly, to take a couple of pics of me for this post, she took loads of pics, this was the one that looked like me the most.......and it doesn't look like me either.

Well that went quick didn't it? I can't believe another Challenge is over and done with already? I could have carried on at that pace for another few weeks to be honest, I'm not sure my wife would agree though??
Thanks have gotta go to the Snow Lord Curt & Lady Sarah for putting up with all of our shenanigans over the past few months. Also thanks to Minion Stuart L, leader on the Saturday crew for all his hard work.

Thanks!!!!

I got a lot of figures painted, mostly 2mm of course, but sadly didn't manage to finish my Almansa 1707 project. Boooooo!

French

Spanish

Portuguese

English & Dutch

25's & 15's

And here are the figures out on the tabletop.
Hmm? I think I got my math wrong, the troops just fit on an 8 foot table!!!

I've included plain bases, in place where the missing units should be.

On the left are the French and Spanish and of course that puts the English, Dutch and Portuguese on the right.

The photos don't do the figures justice, so I made a small video, hope it works?

I wanna claim a victory though, I think I've painted the most figures in Challenge 13?

34 x  25mm figures
24 x 15mm figures
2mm
English, French & Dutch infantry 7680 figures
Portuguese & Spanish infantry 6528 figures
All Cavalry 2184 figures
Artillery 24 guns, 96 figures
Command figures 134 figures

For a total of 16646 2mm figures!!!

Here's my performance so far in all the Challenges

Challenge II 4940 points 1st
Challenge III 2586 points 4th
Challenge IV 1227 points 17th
Challenge V 691 points 37th
Challenge VI 681 points 36th
Challenge VII 1093 points 24th
Challenge VIII 662 points 40th
Challenge IX 2274 points 8th
Challenge X 1687 points 11th
Challenge XI 2260 points 8th
Challenge XII 2168 points 7th
Challenge XIII 1111 points 27th

Dunno what Holly did to my phone, I hope I don't really look like this???

AHPC13 - My last entry - Almansa 1707 - Siluten's Dutch Horse brigade.

My last post for AHPC 13
And its a Brigade I painted up at the start of the Challenge back in December, I put it in a box and promptly forgot about it! I was checking my list, thinking "I'm sure I painted them, I must be going round the bend?" But no, a quick search and there they were.

This is Siluten's Dutch Brigade

Which consists of 2 squadrons of Drimborn's Horse, 2 squadrons of Mattha's Dragoons and 2 squadrons of Schippenbach's Dragoons

6 bases @2.5= 15pts
add 1/2 point for the brigadier.

15.5 points

And that's me over and out!

AHPC 13 - Almansa 1707 - Gutierrez's and Ronquillo's Spanish Brigades

More from my 2mm Almansa project

I really like these Irregular 2mm figures, some will like them and some not, but what you can achieve
painting these little chaps is amazing!

The is Gutierrez's Spanish Horse brigade.

There are only 2 regiments in this brigade, both have 3 squadrons.
Ordenes - Nuevo and Ordenes - Viejo, which translates to Orders Old and Orders New, which are rather strange names? I guess its something to do religious orders?

Gutierrez's Brigade fought ion the right wing in the second line under Lt General D'Asfeld and will earn me 15.5 pts to add to my total.

Next up we have Ronquillo's Brigade

Ronquillo's also fought on the right flank, but in the 1st line, under Lt General Duque de Popili.

The regiment in this brigade were Real Asturias 4 Squadrons, Amezaga's 3 squadrons and Carillo's 3 squadrons.

Amezaga

Carillo

Real Asturias

Ronquillo's brigade will earn me 25.5 pts
add that to Gutierrez's 15.5 and we get 41 pts

AHPC 13 - Almansa 1707 - Spanish - Mello's Brigade

Ahora es el momento para un poco de caballería española.

Here we have Mello's Brigade, who fought in the Right wing 2nd line under Don Juan de Alayda

This is one of the biggest brigades in the battle.

There are 6 squadrons of regt Casa de Viera.
He must have not been short of a few gold escudo's!

As usual with info on the Portuguese army of 1707, its very difficult to find, but what I did find out is that the 3 squadrons of the Lisboa regt wore light blue coats.

The same as the Olivenca's 3 squadrons.

as for the points...
12 bases of Cavalry@2.5 points = 30 points
1 brigadier = 1/2 point

So 30.5 points!

AHPC 13 - Almansa 1707 - Amaca and Camara's Brigades

Originally posted on the Challenge blog on the 19th March.

Yep, its more 2mm figures
Its time for more Portuguese troops

This is the Portuguese Cavalry Brigade led by General Amaca

On the left we have 2 Squadrons of Villavicosa regt and on the right a lonely 1 squadron of regt Algarbo.

3 squadrons of Almansa

and 3 of the Moura regt.

Amaca's Brigade fought in the 1st line on the right flank under Das Minas.

I might as well sneak this small infantry brigade in as well on this post.
Camara's Brigade.

Here we have 3 Portuguese infantry regts, Novo de Almeida, Viana and Castro.
Camara's Brigade fought the Centre 1st line under General Erle.

Onto the points

9 bases @ 2.5 = 22.5
3 bases @5 =15
2 Brigadiers@ 1/2 point = 1
So altogther 38.5 points
