“Battle Chronicle - The Retreat from Moscow” is a fantastic setting for a campaign, loads of tension, tough decisions, and that constant sense of survival against the odds
This bad boy dropped through my letterbox today. Getting a physical proof copy in my hand is a massive milestone. It suddenly makes the whole project feel real???
I must say I’m feeling ridiculously pleased with myself, Paul and Lee right now. There’s something gloriously surreal about seeing your name in print in an actual wargaming book — who let that happen?!
After a heroic amount of hard work, questionable decisions, blood, sweat, and the occasional dramatic tear, it’s all very close to paying off.
All being well, this bad boy will be on sale from 1st June… brace yourselves!!!!!
If you’d like to know more, head over to the Pazoot website here, and sign up for the newsletter...........go on, you’ll only regret it if you don’t 😉
What a news! CONGRATULATIONS !
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal, its very exciting! For me anyway! Lol.
DeleteCongratulations! Next will we see your name in lights?
ReplyDeleteLol....headlights maybe?
DeleteGood luck with it all Ray ! Your Frenchies deserve the win!
ReplyDeleteVive le France!
DeleteCongratulations Ray, well worth your efforts to see your name in print
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil, its a good feeling.
DeleteFantastic stuff. There is great joy in receiving a proper printed copy of things what you wrote
ReplyDeleteTheir certainly is, Martin.
DeleteBringing a project from concept to published product is quite an accomplishment (and feeling of same). Congrats!
ReplyDelete100%! Thanks Ed.
DeleteI've sent you several messages as you've been building your armies, and I'm particularly pleased that you've finished writing your rules.
ReplyDeleteI listened to BIG LEE's commentary on your rules and I'm very tempted to try them out.
But I have a problem that many of your followers must share. I don't have French and Russian armies in winter uniforms. I also don't have the corresponding terrain. However, I do have two armies: a French one and a British one (the sworn enemy) for the Peninsular Wars, as you call them across the Channel.
Would it be possible for you to adapt your rules to General Moore's retreat to Galicia in 1807-1808? I think you would reach a wider audience. Check with Battle Chronicle the number of Sharpe Practice rules sold to date. This will give you a fairly realistic idea of the potential market for your rules adapted to the Spanish theater of war.
There's no reason why you couldn't use this set with a few changes, Brits for Russians, rain for snow etc....
DeleteI think it would be the other way around wouldn't it, Ray - Brits would be retreating and the French would be in the role of the Russians?
DeleteI suppose it vould be either way.
DeleteCongratulations! All that hard work has paid off...!
ReplyDeleteIt has Mike!
DeleteA great achievement. Well done to you and your co-authors. The photography looks to have come up very well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, Lee took most of the photos and did a damn fine job too!
DeleteCongratulations Ray to you and all concerned, great news and I hope it sells by the lorry load!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Lol!
DeleteWell done Ray and team, it’s just a lovely thing to do …… it’s not such a bad thing this wargame malarkey, is it? :-)
ReplyDeleteWe all write rules or rewrite rules within our own groups, but to get a chance to share it with everyone, and earn a little dosh at the same time, is a great idea.
DeleteI wish the project well. It may get my Deadloque figures back on the snowy terrain mat.
ReplyDeleteI think that like LECHEVALIER there may be many adaptations [how about lost Frenchmen in the deserts of Egypt] BUT it's good that some rules are campaign specific in design rather than generic rules with campaign tweaks. Not that the latter don't have their place but the specific can be better at the specific. They aim to do what it says on the tin, not everything [including in the small print what it says on the tin]. So well done at taking aim and I suspect you'll have hit your chosen target.
every success,
Stephen
Lets hope so, Stephen!
DeleteCongratulations, Ray. 👍🏻
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike!
DeleteGood for you Ray 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt!
DeleteBig congratulations! Yes, there is something special about holding a copy in one's hands.
ReplyDeleteSure is, Alex!
DeleteMany congratulations Ray on joining the ranks of wargames authors, hope it proves a good seller! Just the Inland Revenue to look out for now...
ReplyDeleteShhh!
DeleteHope it does well
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteCongrats on your work. Looking forward to seeing it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe!
DeleteFantastic work by you all Ray.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see you all as guests on Oprah's Book Club in a few months 😂
I will be getting a copy and adapting to the figures I have until Pendraken sort out their army deals.
She called last night, we're all on in a few weeks. There will be an army deal for all the figures needed, not sure how much though. But I believe there'll be a deal to buy the rules and the figures as one package, from Paul at Pazoot.
DeleteThat is brilliant Ray, congratulations to all 3 of you.
ReplyDeleteAppreciate that John.
DeleteAwesome, congratulations Ray, looking forward to it
ReplyDeleteCheers Matt!
DeleteWell done Ray - I guess this is your "Fifteen minutes of fame" time in the sun!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sun burnt already!
DeleteWow Ray! That's pretty impressive indeed. Very happy for all three of you. Were I to ever dip my toe into Naps, I know just where to look first.
ReplyDeleteGlad to here it Dai!
DeleteCongrats! This is beyond awesome! :-)
ReplyDeleteIts been a very exciting project to be a part of, Jason.
