Salute 2025 anyone??? The Rejects on Tour.

 

It's April, so that means its time for Salute once again!!!

Postie, Lee, Steve and myself, will be joined by Dave and Chris and we'll meet up with part time Reject Mick Sayce as well. So its gonna be Posties Reject heavy (for us anyway).

I've stocked up on Painkillers and will start drugging myself up next week. I'll still feel like I've been hit by a bus at the end of the day though!

I've got a small list together and already preordered other bits, I have no plans to buy anything for a new period, but you never know if that "Ooooo shiny", moment's gonna come and bite you on the bum!

Are there any Bloggers or readers going? I'll be in my red Posties Reject t-shirt, so say hi, if you see me.

And for those who wish to come along to the Bloggers Meet up, its at the Big Red Dot at 1pm. It doesn't last long, just a quick 10-15 minutes, it'd be great to put a few faces to the names and meet up with old chums.

Mad Blogger Rant & Salute 2012

Now I'm normally quite a mild mannered sort of chap, just ask Fran!!.........BUT
Is anyone else getting pi$$ed off with the new captcha word verification.
The old version was bad enough, but the new "Please prove you're not a Robot", is really getting on my tits!!!!
"I am not a Robot I am a free man!!!!!!"
I'm 43 and wear glasses, and sit quite close the my computer and still can't read the bloody words, here's one I had earlier............ any ideas???

Obviously researches. with a full stop!! is very clear, but what the hell is the next, can I call it a word???? r, π, skull, backwards B and an S with a funny line at the bottom???
Now I know Blogger have put it there for a reason, to stop spam, but for Gods sake, give us the bloody chance to read it, so we can type it in!!!!!!
So I'll plead with you fellow bloggers and shout, forget the spam, you can always delete it, but please "Turn the effin thing OFF!!!"
Several blogs that I comment on quite regularly have this stupid thing on still, I've tried to comment, but after getting the captcha wrong a few times I've given up, either that or smash the keyboard up!!!

Now I've got that off my chest..................

Unfortunately, The Rejects will not now be appearing at Salute (massive blogger groan). As some of you may have already known we were due to take part in Paul Darnell's WW2 skirmish game, but he's had to cancel. Gotta admit myself and Fran are quite gutted about this, we had planned to meet a few of you at the game table, but alas its not to be :0(
However myself, Fran and the rest of the Rejects are still going to the show to spend our hard earned (yawn) dosh, we're also meeting two Canadian bloggers Curt and Dallas for a beer at a pub near Salute, then the next day they're both visiting Reject HQ for an ACW game. Looks like its gonna be a great weekend!!!

Reasons to go to Wargame shows??

3 or is it 6??? reasons why we go to Wargame shows. 

1. Is for to pick up that big order from Gripping Beast, that you placed online last week?

2. Is it to compete in a Flames of War tournament? 

3. Is it because you need to see the new releases from your favourite companies?

4. Is it just a day out for the boys? 

5. Is it to get 5 minutes peace from the Mrs and kids?

OR

6. Is it see see the lovely ladies below???

I had to include the last picture, I've blacked out the ladies face, I hope she doesn't see it, whoever she is?

Salute 2011 part 2 The Reject's on tour

As I mentioned in my last post, myself and 3 of the Rejects made it to Salute last Sunday, the usual trip down the A2 was marred by the closure of the Blackwall tunnel, so a quick detour through Dartford tunnel, brought us to the other end of the Excel centre, we usually park below the centre quite close to the show entrance, but had to park outside, which bought on moans and groans from Postie and especially the whining irishman Fran, as it bought on at least another 800 metres trek to the expected 6-7 mile walk. I thought it was a great show I'm gutted I missed the Sedgemoor game, I must have walked passed it several times and also missed out on the Bluemoon Indian civilians from Old Glory. I had a quick chat with Martin from Warbases, I was supposed to bring back some bases that he'd sent to me by mistake, but in all the schoolboy excitement to get to the show I left them at home.
Lastly I was very fortunate to win a raffle prize from the guys at  Project Hougoumont, well worth the £5, I paid for the tickets,  I won three musket balls dug up on the field at Waterloo and two Battle of Waterloo prints signed by Jason Salkey, (Rifleman Harris). The one problem was I found out I'd won by text and we were just getting back onto the A13 on our way home, so a quick handbrake turn  was made back to the show. I lost one musket ball walking back to the car though,  Fran luckily caught it with his open pocket!!

Salute 2011 and a Nomination??

Just a quick post for this evening, have been to Salute with the usual pals Postie, Fran (the Lurker), Link,  also our other pal Surj came along, it was his first show in over 10 years. I'm absolutely knackered, we all must have walked about 8 mile, and with a belly like mine, that's some going!!
I met up with a three fellow bloggers and had a good chat with them, namely, Paul from Battles in Miniature, Dave from Saxon Dog & Darrell from la journey. Paul and Dave were both running the same game Miniature Militia presents By the Pike Divided, which was an ECW game set in 1644, beautiful figures on an very unusual board which was kind of a rounded diamond shape. Darrell and co were playing the Battle of Verneuil in 1424, once again the terrain and figures were superb. I'll be posting a few more photo's from both these games plus lots more in the next couple of days.

I also had a chat with??, Alex, the author of the new Viking skirmish rules "Saga", these look very interesting and I'm surly gonna part with the £20-25 they'll cost when they come out in early May
I guess like most gamers I overspent at the show, but came away very happy with my purchases, I was a bit gutted I never got to Old Glory in time and they'd sold out on the new Bluemoon 15mm FIW figures I wanted, gggrrrr!!!. Now I'll have to wait until they get more in, in a couple of months!!! A great time was had by all, Fran bought some 20mm tanks and figures for his What if Operation Sealion, Posties bought some painted 100 Years Wars figures to add to his already massive collection, while Surj bought some books on tactics.
Fran, The Angry Lurker was nominated for a blog award a couple of days ago, (tut! bighead) and has also nominated my blog, which was very kind of him, I'm sure I'll have to pay the ginger whinger back some how, he did say that he only nominated me because, I said I wouldn't give him a lift to Salute??? Bloody right too!!!!!
