Its all over, all the build up, all the lists and all that walking about. And what a day it was too! Myself Fran and Postie made it up to the Excel centre, for our yearly visit to Salute. There we met up with BigLee, to handover his Rejects shirt which he duly put on, there were pics, but I'm not gonna to put them up, for fear of repercussions!!!! BigLee's got me on camera with some cake and I understand it was messy???
I borrowed Postie little camera so it'd fit nice and snugg in my pocket, unlike my giant one, but guess what twat forgot to swap over the SD card....ME! Posties well known for his lack of upto date gadgets, his SD card is only 128MB's and was half full already, so there's not as many pics as I'd have liked, and looking at other bloggers photos I seem to have missed out seeing a hell of a lot of other excellent games.
Our planned meeting with fellow bloggers went very well, meet and chatted with many an unfamiliar face, but I'll post more on that another day.

Wait for me!!! The Lurker and Postie race off. |
|
Postie, telling The Lurker off for using the wrong toilet. |
|
The queue, it took us about 30 minutes to get in. |
|
In my opinion and later the judges, the best looking game at the show. Corunna 1809. by Essex Gamesters. Made all the more poignant as it was dedicated to a recently deceased member of their club, Paul Mumford. |
|
Dues Vult! by Fireforge Games - The Teutonic Knights were beautiful. |
|
I'm not 100% sure on the title of this game, but it looks like a ECW battle and it looked excellent. Any ideas anyone?? |
|
Not usually my thing, but you just had to admire all the terrain and figures here. Slowing the Tide by Chemins de Feu |
|
Aspern-Essling - Only 1 photo was in focus, dammit! Not sure who the club were? |
|
Sebastopel, by Battlefront Miniatures & Wargames Illustrated. I had a good chat with Barry Hilton and Dave (Toggy) who were running the game. |
|
I bought Postie and Fran a Burger King on the way home, Fran was a little miffed he had no cheese in his Whopper.....Miserable Git! |
I like those ships Ray, must take forever and a day to do the rigging on those. These are some nice tables and some good pics too. Fran, King of the Whopper, has a nice ring to it I think.
ReplyDeleteAnne - I read somewhere that they were actually "mantlepiece" ships from France
DeleteRay - thanks for the pics. Did you get any of the blogger meetup?
@ Anne - Fran King of the Whopper, more like Fran King of the Woopie Cushion.
Delete@ Tamsin - Yep I did, I'm still sorting through the picks and I'll post them tomorrow..... probably??
Thanks for the Pics Ray. Some great looking games. That frigate looks pretty awesome!

ReplyDeleteBTW, anybody done the 'cheese on his Whopper' joke yet?
:O)
Poor Fran, but they always say, you only get what you deserve!!
DeleteExcellent run through mate.
ReplyDeleteI didn't manage to make it down- last minute disaster which made me feel rather sick- but from what I've seen from your pics, which make me feel all the more sick for missing the show, I can see that I missed another special Salute!
I think that the Seige of Savastapol may well have been the game that floats my boat the most. Luckily I guess I'll be seeing some pics of the game in WI.
Darrell.
It was a lovely setup, it wasn't very big compared to some of the other games, but certainly made up for it by its look....sod charging that redoubt!!!!
DeleteSeeing all the photos from the blogs and facebook.. just makes me really want to invest in the time/money to fly to UK for this one year.. hopefully next year will be the one! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhy not??? Better start saving all your pennies now!
DeleteExcellent photos from some really excellent work!
ReplyDeleteT.
Aww, FRAN! Shouldn'ta gone to the male toilets...
ReplyDeleteTop photos there Ray and some excellent games going on. Looks like a great day was had by one and all.
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs Ray, and you are spot on with the Corunna table; it certainly was a thing of beauty! I have to say those Teutonic knights were lucky not have come home with me; I actually had a box in my little paw at one point!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean? I did exactly the same thing, I had them in my hand, before I realised what I was doing, then when I did, I made myself put them back.....and it hurt!
DeleteVery nice photos, but some do look like you're in charge of a 'Care in the Community' project ;)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, I'm the only normal one and I'm not that normal to start with!?!
DeleteExcellent photos you took Ray!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Ray, sounded like a grand day out!
ReplyDeleteExcellent photo's Ray...you don't have much 'luck' with cameras. You might try a little planning in future...Batteries [check], SD Card [check], spare batteries and SD Card [check]!
ReplyDeletePlanning is for wimps, that's my new motto!!! Honestly I amaze myself sometimes???
DeleteLovely report and pictures Ray! Just like I said on Big Lees report... it is good to see a report with some detail shots!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Ray. Some really awesome looking games. Almost too much to take in. Thanks for showing us what we missed.
ReplyDeleteHope to meet you guys eventually Ray. Anything Andy from Hanger Bay told you is a lie. Unless it would good, of course.
ReplyDeleteSome excellent photos Ray
ReplyDeleteGreat pics of some lovely tables. Glad you had fun mate
ReplyDeleteA very nice report of those wonderful games. Thank you a lot.
ReplyDeletegreat to meet up Ray it was great chatting with the bloggers - all really nice people.
ReplyDeleteAnd how the hell did i miss the game with the Teutonic knights... damn! i bought some!
I'm glad to see you posted more pictures of the Corunna 1809 set up then the Angry Lurker did. I love how that boat looks. (just be glad that the queue for the toilet wasn't 30 minutes long!)
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, Ray! It was a blast for Dallas and I to be able to meet up with you all. I must say though, it was a bit much to cram into one day - it was like a bloody pressure cooker to visit, browse, admire games and buy toys all in a few hours. Nonetheless, great fun!
ReplyDelete- Curt
Thanks for sharing these pictures with us! The ships are awesome!
ReplyDeleteFran is so cute with that crown on his head! :-D
Greetings
Peter
