To take part in the Analouge Painting Challenge the only condition was to paint up one of Curt's Viking figures. Which I thought was a damn good idea, unfortunately my Viking must have rowed his boat all the way across the Atlantic from Canada, as I didn't get it until 5 days before the Challenge finished. So he never made it onto my painting table until after the Challenge. Curt's over in the UK for Salute and a game with the Rejects the day after Salute, where he can pick up his namesake Viking hornblower. I was quite pleased how he turned out, its given me a bit of enthusiasm to glue together my Gripping Beast Vikings.......I think???

Good stuff! You can always do with someone to toot your horn :-)
ReplyDeletehe looks nice, shame he didn't make it into the competition but obviously he did not need to
ReplyDeleteCurt looks good!
ReplyDeleteHi Ray thanks for putting up the BROADSIDE poster... I'll have to work out how to do that...Also nice looking figure.
ReplyDeleteIts pretty easy, copy my pic, open up your layout page, then click add a gadget, scroll down until you come to "picture", then just follow the prompts!
DeleteBeautiful detail! :D
ReplyDeleteHoi Ray, great mini, sometimes an one-figure project is just as enjoyable as a whole regiment, specially when done in great style and with some proper background story.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us Curt!
Cheers Sander
Wow, you dropped the 15mm, amazing! Great job!
ReplyDeleteCurt is great, Curt is nice, Curt is late(!), but Curt has a personnal story now! Very good work!
ReplyDeleteGreat wotk Ray
ReplyDeleteGreat looking figure there Ray.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ross
Great looking figure, and a great paintjob as well. I'm always tempted by Saga and things, as I like the dark ages, but still haven't taken the plunge. resisting so far.
ReplyDeleteThis is nice Ray. I like the way you did the ivory on that horn. You gave it a worn look without being heavy handed with it. The shading on the tunic is nice as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the Salute post that popped up a couple hours ago?
Errr Yes??? While writing the post I mistakenly clicked the "Publish" button when it was only half finished, what a plonker!!!! The post should make an appearance on Monday....fingers crossed!!!
DeleteWell at least it wasn't Fran mucking about with your page. See you on Monday.
DeleteWell I'm still waiting for mine, I think I will pick something up at Triples. Nice looking Curt, was it hard to upscale? LOL
ReplyDeleteIan
No not hard, I've got tons of 25mm figures, just haven't painted any in a while.
DeleteNIce! You can do it Ray, give us some 28's now..Look forward to them
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done there Ray. Come on, get those Gripping Beast Vikings out and onto the painting table. You made all those lovely flags so you might as well put them to use!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I bought them, to finally get my flags on a figure.
DeleteNice painting and its good to see you enter the true scale, Gods scale, of 28s. GB Viking are very nice and the plastics one look truly great.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not I am quite looking froward to paint them, its the glueing them together part that's putting me off!!
DeleteAfter seeing this, I agree with Roger, get those plastic GB Vikings on the painting table.
ReplyDeleteYup, agree with others - time to go a-viking
ReplyDeletegreat stuff as always Ray :)
Very nice model!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and hope you break out some Vikings I am always up for some great inspiration for mine!
ReplyDeleteGiven the top result on this it looks like it is defiantly time to dust off those 28s
ReplyDeleteGroooaaannnn!!!!
DeleteNice job, Ray. Pity Curt didn't make into Analogue.
ReplyDeleteVery nice job Ray !
ReplyDeleteBest regards dalauppror
Sharp looking Viking Ray.
ReplyDeleteNice looking figure. I think you should paint those 28mm figs.
ReplyDeleteAre you the Reject's guys putting a game? Are there any coordinates to find you? I'm flying over on Friday morning to visit Bovington and Salute on Saturday. I'll more than pleased to pass by and meet you, Frnack, Postie and the rest of the gang
ReplyDeleteWe were putting on a game at Salute, but it was unfortunately cancelled, we're planning on meeting up with a few fellow bloggers at Salute and it'd be great to meet you too. Check out our blogs Monday and Tuesday for more details.
DeleteGreat! I'll do.
DeleteLooks good Ray, I like the colours they work together really well
ReplyDeleteNice work Ray.
ReplyDeleteA very nice work, Ray.
ReplyDeleteGripping beast vikings sounds fun! Also..is that a blood spatter you've put under him, or was that already there? It looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteExcellent painting on the horn blower Ray. The GB plastic Vikings and Saxons are great figures.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you can paint the bigger models as well as the smaller ones. Are you going to base him or leave that for Curt to do in order to match his other figs?
ReplyDeleteI'll leave it for Curt, I'm not sure how he'd want it based.
DeleteNice work and I'm sure Curt will like it!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Great Job, Ray. Is he "calling" a giant boar home for dinner?
ReplyDeleteLittle fella reminds me of my uncle.
ReplyDeleteTegan Wilson
There's got to be a joke in there about Vikings and Hornblower, but I'm too tired . . .
ReplyDeleteGood figure though and a nice paint job!
Gaz.
Funny, I just saw this! Its really no surprise as by that date we were already winging it over to London from Canada. Brilliant figure, Ray! He is now on my painting desk next to my Honourary Posties Reject award/sigil. I'll be basing him up with many of the others over the summer months! Thanks again!
