Old Stuff Day

Ok I know its a little late, but............
The idea of posting up some links to some unloved and unappreciated posts is the brainchild of Warhammer 39999.com.

From his blog

"This is why I’m proposing all bloggers highlight the content they’re most proud of on March 2nd in celebration of “Old Stuff Day.” On this day, each blogger can go through their history and find posts that they’d like to shake the dust off and present again to the community at large. Some suggestions for content that would be good to post:
Posts that you considered special that didn’t receive as much attention as you thought they deserved
Content that people liked in the past, but haven’t seen recently
Posts you might have created before your site received much traffic, and now deserve to be re-shown
Or any content you’re particularly proud of!"
My first Old Stuff post, is actually my first ever Battle report, "The Battle of Zakharina" from 2010, it did get a fair few hits, and for some time it was my No1 post. But it only received 3 comments and 2 of them were from me and Fran!!! This was a milestone post though as it was later published in the Napoleonic magazine First Empire, which I'm very proud of.
My second Old Stuff post, is my first ever post from August 2010 "Huguenots Flags" for the Nine Years War. Once again over time this has slowly built up its numbers, but only received its first comment in February this year!
My last Old Stuff post has  received 400 odd visits but only 1 comment, its some photos of my then newly painted NYW figure's, strangely enough titled "15mm NYW/Leaugue of Augsberg photos". This was first posted back in Aug 2010 and I'm still 3 years down the line painting figures for the same period. They've been on the battlefield a few times but definitely not as much as I'd like!!

Lastly, check out the blog Dux Homunculorum. Mr Dux has just surpassed 200k visits and has an excellent Prize givaway or don't visit and give me a better chance to win!

Also check out Phil's blog The Wargaming Site, Phil also doing a prize give-away, you could be lucky and win his son!

  1. This is a brilliant idea. I didn't get any comments on my posts for months and months. But then again, they were pitiful. Yours were very professional and they now have one more comment on them.

  2. My earlier posts didn't get a lot of comments, but few were really noteworthy. Except for one where I posted the history of video tape to DVDs. That one took a bit of research.

  3. I've been here the whole time, nothing new!!

  4. It's always good to revisit old stuff on occasion. Somethings that didn't find an audience before might strike a chord now.

  5. Ah this is a good idea! Although I can't think of any of my old posts which anyone would want to read.

  8. I may not have left comments, but I followed your ( and Fran's) blogs while in Afghanistan. It's rather hard to participate in hobby shennanigans while living out of a rucksack! It was really nice to unwind from missions and read the blogs detailing painting new shiney, battle reports, and the friendly rivalry between you two.
So, a hearty thank-you for that! You fellas also inspired me to start my own blog....and the rule Houehold-6 made...No new minis until the present crop gets finished!

  11. My old posts are so embarrassing, I'm glad they're collecting dust (she says as she just reopened her old blog - what an egotistical thing she is!)

I love the pictures you posted!! They had me laughing so hard...
