AHPC12 - Donnybrook - Last of the Mohicans

Back in Challenge 8 in 2018 I painted up the Warlord Figures pack Last of the Mohicans here
Mainly to use as command figures for my Natives for King Philip's War/Bacon's Rebellion.

Around about the same time I bought the Redoubt Enterprises version of the same figures, Although there's no Magua, instead we have the ill fated Major Duncan Heyward.
These will also go into the Native Command box of doom. The ladies will go into the civillian box,
and poor Maj Heywood will go into the what the hell I'm I gonna do with you box! But
probably round to Posties to add to his FIW collection. This figure was in command of the 55th foot in our last FIW game a few posts ago.

I think I prefer these figures to the Warlord ones?

Bit blurry I know.
Cora Munro, Alice Munro, Chingachgook, Uncas

Alice, Chingachgook, Uncas, Hawkeye (in his famous, chasing after Magua pose)  and Maj Heyward

Originally I was just going to paint up Cora and Alice, just incase I needed them for Sarah Star ship, but before I knew it I'd cleaned up the pack and stuck them on sticks and lets face it, they're a pretty easy paintjob.

This fine looking bunch of 6 x 25mm figures will earn me another 30 points, which leaves me just 9 points shy of Miles in 6th place.,

AHPC 11 Donnybrook - Plymouth Colony Militia 1675

Back to Donnybrook, now there's a surprise!!! But this time we've crossed the pond to the early English Colonies in America.

I've used these Empress Miniatures English Civil War figures to represent the early colonists
in the America's. I bought these a few years ago at SELWG in Crystal Palace as I wanted some Militia types for King Philips War  and other fights around that time. This is the first time I've painted Empress Miniatures before and I've gotta say they are crackin' figures in both proportion and to paint up.

The unit is made up of various Infantry and dismounted Cavalry packs to try and make them look more individual.

The flag is a homemade one I drew on Paint, I've no clue what kind of flag the Militia would have used if at all? So I used the flag of St George. And of course they don't have to just be the Plymouth Militia, they could be any unit of the war. And of course they could be from the ECW, IF I ever want to do Donnybrook ECW???

There are 20 figures in the unit. These of course can be any Militia unit that fought during King Philip's War, not just the Plymouth Militia.

Which gives me 100 points to add to my total.

Fathers Day 2020

Its Fathers Day here in the UK, so I painted up this fine looking fellow as a pressie for my Dad. He's a Wargames foundry figure and I've painted him up to represent the Native American Chief Metacom, otherwise known as King Philip.

King Philip's War (sometimes called the First Indian War, Metacom's War, Metacomet's War, Pometacomet's Rebellion, or Metacom's Rebellion)was an armed conflict in 1675–1678 between indigenous inhabitants of New England and New England colonists and their indigenous allies. The war is named for Metacomet, the Wampanoag chief who adopted the name Philip because of the friendly relations between his father Massasoit and the Mayflower Pilgrims. The war continued in the most northern reaches of New England until the signing of the Treaty of Casco Bay in April 1678

And here's the little fella himself! My Dad not King Philip!
Who's also called Ray, which meant for years I was known as Little Ray?
Hmmmm???
Every Birthday, Christmas and Father's Day I paint up a figure for my Dad's collection, at the moment he's getting figures with a royal connection, hence King Philip.

Also as I've been a good boy, my wife and 4 daughters banded together and bought me this luvvly lot
of goodies for my Fathers Day pressie!
Another book for the collection Vol 3 The Armies of the Ottoman Empire 1645-1718
from Helion & Company
and 11 packs of Trent minis from Arcane Scenary & Models
2 x Vendean Double Barrel gunned infantry
2 x French Grenadiers
1 x Chasseurs des Irois
2 x Santo Domingo Militia
4 x French Dragoons St Domingue

Hmmm? What to paint up first???

AHPC X - 25mm Massachusetts Bay Militia

Yes they are for Donnybrook, I know I know!

The men of the Massachusetts Bay Militia fought in the Battle of Bloody Brook which
was fought on September 12, 1675 between militia from the Massachusetts Bay Colony and a band of Indians led by Nipmuc sachem Muttawmp. The Indians ambushed colonists escorting a train of wagons carrying the harvest from Deerfield to Hadley. They killed at least 40 militia men and 17 teamsters out of a company that included 79 militia.

Sounds to me like this could make a cool game?

Not sure what make the figures are, but I know they're ECW Irish, but they will do very
nicely for colonists in the 1670's.

These brave men of Massachusetts  earned me 40 pts in the Challenge back in March.

AHPC X - Donnybrook - Native's Prisoners

Curt wanted Donnybrook, so Curt gets Donnybrook!
Here we have another 4 figures for my collection.

Were back in North America for this entry, the figures are from Redoubt Enterprises'
FIW range, but mine will be for King Philips War or Bacon's Rebellion.

The prisoners will probably be used in a rescue scenario, whenever I get around to it?

I earned 20 points for these, pushing back up to No 32.

Donnybrook - Redoubt Indian Torch Bearers

I bought these chaps pre-painted from Grubby Tank/Redoubt Minis at Broadside back in June. I had asked Andy to paint up a few, so he did. I was pretty lucky actually, I got to the stall just before Postie otherwise he'd have bought the lot for his FIW army!!!

Now they are all based up and added to my King William's War/Bacon's Rebellion Native army for Donnybrook shenanigans, (have I ever mentioned Donnybrook before??)

I think I might add some cotton wool or some kind of fibre to make them look like they're burning. Anyone got any good ideas how to do this?

That should be my Native force complete.............should?

AHPC9 Donnybrook - Reiver Castings Militia

 Oh look, yet more Donnybrook!!!!
I do like it when you can have versatile figures, and that's exactly what these are.

The figures are from Reiver Castings, and can be purchased here.
For the princely sum of £11

They can and hopefully will be used in the following armies.
Monmouth's Rebels
King Phillip's War Militia
&
Irish Rapparees

These 10  bad boys were worth 5 points each so earned me 50 points.

AHPC9 Donnybrook - Warfare Miniatures Militia

Surprise Surprise!!!
More Donnybrook shenanigans!!!
I bought these 50 Warfare Miniatures last year at The Other Partizan wargame show,
from Mr Beneath the Lily Banners Hilton himself.

These are very multi-purpose figures and are something that were missing from
the late 1600's figure range. Dixon's and Reiver do have similar figures, but not in this many poses. And this is only the start, there will be more poses from Warfare minis!!

I mainly wanted these figure to use as Militia for Bacon's Rebellion or King Philips War in America,
but they will also be used as Rebels in the army of the Duke of Monmouth
at the Battle of Sedgemoor. And also they can be used for as either side in Ireland in the Boyne campaign.

There are 30 Musketeers and 20 Pikemen/Sythmen
I do have another 10 Pikemen to paint up, but I've only just bought some different
weapons for them to hold, hopefully they'll be painted during the Challenge???

These 50 x 25mm figures earned me a very nice 250 points to add to my tally.

Which at the moment stands at 1309 points!
I had given myself a quite modest target of 1200 points this year, but
I've got my mojo working at the moment, its just like the old days.
I can't seem to put the brush down. Which is getting the dreaded lead pile down
ever so slightly!

You too can buy these great figures from Warfare Miniatures, to add to your collections, or maybe even start a new one????   just click this link

I kept the palette very basic, keeping mostly to various shades of grey and brown
with the odd splash of colour here and there.

Once again I used the inking method on these figures, I think it worked perfectly, especially
on the apostles and lighter coloured shirts.

And to finish a few pics of the back of the figures
