Last week my family and friends took a trip down to Cornwall for a weeks holiday. We were very lucky with the weather, it only rained on the last two days!
Two places I wanted to visit were St Michael's Mount and Tintagel Castle, here's a few photos to bore you all to tears.....
The Causeway. I wanted to walk across it, but the tide was against us.
WWII Pillbox
King Arthur
I also stumbled across the Shipwreck Treasure Museum in Charlestown.
Lovely part of the country and good to support ;ocal museums etc after the last 18 months they must really be suffering.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteNice pics. Off there tomorrow. Haven't done Tintagel since the bridge went up but might try the Mount this year.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time!
DeleteSuper travel and museum photos, Ray. What is the connection to Napoleon?
ReplyDeleteI think they were from someone who was one of his guards in his final years.
DeleteAwesome castle! That's one thing I enjoyed when I lived in London - all the castles to explore.
ReplyDeleteWe've a lot of history on the country and loads of places to visit.
DeleteNice pics and looks like a good place to visit.
ReplyDeleteCertainly were George.
DeleteNice pics, Ray. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamsin.
DeleteAmazing historical artifacts and castle, Ray! Love the regimental drum and blunderbuss, oh, and the samurai armor too!
ReplyDeleteThe Samurai armour was a bit of a surprise.
DeleteI visited both places 20 years ago, so it was good to refresh my memory through these photos Ray. There were quite a few things I don't remember seeing at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they swap things over every year or so, just to refresh the exhibits.
DeleteGreat photos Ray!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLooks like some grand places to visit . Glad you enjoyed yourself
ReplyDeleteCheers Dave.
DeleteGreat post Ray!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
DeleteNice photos, the shipwreck museum looks great!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
It was a great find.
DeleteGreat place to visit; I've been to Tintagel, but can;t recollect the shipwreck museum on my visits to the south west - it looks great,
ReplyDeleteJust found it on the off chance?
DeleteLooks like you had a nice trip. In in Blackpool this week (with side jaunts to a couple of museums) so I'll have pictures of my own to share in due course!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Hope you're not driving everyone mad.
DeleteNice images Ray. Around 1978 my family visited Brittany and specifically Mont St Michel, which is a mirror image of St Michaels Mount....I have always wanted to visit the English version...maybe one day!
ReplyDeleteYou never know your luck Keith?
DeleteAlways good to see Cornwall. Some good stuff in the pic's Ray.
ReplyDeleteCheers OB.
DeleteEnjoy your break Ray, while we are back in the UK we hope to get a Cornwall visit in, although V and I do tend to go in February when it ain't so busy
ReplyDeleteProbably a good idea?
DeleteThanks for sharing - the paintings of the St Michaels Mount ECW surrender and of the 1938 Grenadier Guards marching over to the Mount have great Wargames scenario possibilities. The pillbox has a beautiful view of the sea and coast.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly do Mark.
DeleteBeautiful place!
