Mad For War - 2nd Anglo-Dutch War - 1/1200 Scale Ark royal ships

Looking back on my posts, I seem to have missed posting the last of my 2 posts on my Dutch ships from Barry Hilton's Ark Royal Miniatures.

As you can see we have the 44 gunned Stad Gouda, the 26 gunned Schakerlo, the 26 gunned Schiedam and lastly the 26 gunned Overijssel.

Lastly the bases are once again from Warbases.

  1. Wow..!! They are wonderful, Ray. How do Barry Hilton's Ark Royal Miniatures compare with say, Warlord Games' black powder range..? I'm thinking of dipping my toe in to this period next year. But frankly the large size, fiddliness and frankly cost of WG's ships is putting me off, so I'm after an alternative and these look just the job.

    1. They're a lot smaller than the Warlord ships and paint up very easily. Look out for Barry's even smaller range for he same period. They're all one piece castings 1/2400 scale ships that look magnificent. Check out the facebook page, for Mad For War. The rules are a small scale multi based set called Rolling Thunder.

    1. Thanks Alex, I tried to keep the sea a dull grey-blue/green, just like it should be.
