For the French you'll need.
18 French on foot
This is the maximum number, depending on your die rolls and what you do in the game, you may pick up more stragglers, but no more than 18. You don't have to use these exact figures either, any French or Allied foot or dismounted Cavalry will fit perfectly.
6 French Cavalry
If you are really lucky, you may run into some friendly cavalry?
And 6 French Civilians
3 male and 3 female
For the Russians you'll need
12 Cossacks
From any of the Cossack units that fought in 1812.
12 Russian Jager's
and 12 Russian Infantry
And of course you can substitute figures, if you have no Cossacks you could use Hussars or Dragoons. Or if you don't have any 25mm figures in your collection you could use other scales of figures like 15mm or 10mm, you would just change the movement rates from inches to cm.

A very do-able project, rather similar to what made DBA armies so attractive back in the day.
ReplyDeleteYep. Very do able.
DeleteMakes it easy to get the game on the table, not too many figures to collect or paint.
ReplyDeleteNo, that's the good thing about it Donnie.
DeleteLooks fun.
ReplyDeleteIt is Phil!
DeleteAwesome project Ray 👌
ReplyDeleteIts a lot of fun, Michal.
DeleteNot many figures needed and a great way to get into the period
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it won't break the bank, that's for sure.
DeleteAll very achievable. Are Marbot's sleds covered in the rules?
ReplyDeleteNo, afraid not, but if you're lucky a sledge might be involved somewhere along the line???
DeleteNice skirmish size forces.
ReplyDeleteYes and pretty easy to paint up as well, with all the greacoats!
DeleteThat is a great summary Ray. And if I do it in 10mm, I have the French including some unpainted civilians. I would just need a few bags of Russians. Something to consider for the next Pendraken order 😁
ReplyDeleteWell, there you go then Ben, all you need know are the rules!!!
DeleteIt's certainly not a huge number of figures to collect Ray....another benefit of skirmish level wargames!
ReplyDeleteYes, it won't break the bank, if you choose to go for a smaller scale, you could paint the figures up very quickly!
DeleteI look forward to giving these rules a go. I've enough old figures if I use the Deadloque collection from the past. Once the rules are in place will there be a variant for the desert and the Egyptian campaign?
ReplyDeleteStephen
Not that I'm aware of at the moment, but you never know, I've a meeting with Paul, this week and we'll discuss your suggestion, thanks Stephen.
DeleteVery nice Ray, and cold brrrrr
ReplyDeleteVery chilly!!!
DeleteWhat an interesting concept, keeping an eye out on this one.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the rules will be out by the end of May?
DeleteThis is our favorite Napoleonic period… 😉 Beautiful miniatures;…. their variety allows for original unit compositions!
ReplyDeleteWell done Ray! 👏👏👏
Its a very different Napoleonic period to play, and makes a great skirmish game.
DeleteThat IS very doable! Sounds like a great little mini-campaign...
