For the Challenge this year I plan to paint up a Polish/Imperialist Donnybrook force to take on
the Ottoman Turks I painted in Challenge 11.
After a chat with Reject Richard during the summer, he said he had a few figures he found in a draw from a project that was never really started. When we finally met up after the Covid lockdown.
He presented me with 5 painted Pancerni figures from Old Glory!
He had originally painted up the whole pack of 10 figures, the other 5 have vanished!
What to do what to do?
Essex Miniatures came to my rescue, I bought another 5 figures and tried my very best to match them to Richard's paintjob
So my new army has its first unit and there's a few more to go, which will appear on my blog over the coming months.........I hope?
Cheers Ricardo!
looking great, i have a Polish army in my plans, but in 10mm. Probably not this challenge though, I appear to have found a new lead mountain
ReplyDeleteThese new lead mountains do seem to crop up from time to time, don't they?
DeleteThey all seem to match very well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex!
DeleteThey all look fantastic Ray, and without reading of your missing five, I'd certainly have thought all ten were painted together by the same person. Excellent work, imho. Really looking forward to seeing the rest for the AHPC.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon, I'm pleased with the match up tbh.
DeleteThey look great. The Poles are a lovely army to paint up
ReplyDeleteThey are, they're so diverse.
DeleteLove this period, looking forward to the project.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait myself to be honest FMB.
DeleteThey look great Ray. Will we be seeing Donneybrook Poles on the challenge.
ReplyDeleteOf course!
DeleteThe pancerni certainly look cohesive and well done. The rest of the Army will be a treat to look at, glad to know it is not only me that 'loses' figures.
ReplyDeleteHaha, terrible isn't it! Looking forward to getting these and all the rest painted up.
DeleteGreat Work. I loved paining up my Pancerni & Winged Hussars a couple challenges back!
ReplyDeleteNot looking forward to the leopard fur cloaks though!!
DeleteDonnybrook - a good ‘cause’ to direct the painting challenge towards.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more Norm.
DeleteThey look really good Ray!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks Chris, glad you like 'em!
DeleteAlways like seeing a Polish army, so many exotic choices!! Good match with the painting, I wouldn't have known they were in two different batches.
ReplyDeleteCheers Donnie, really looking forward to painting the Poles up.
DeleteExcellent work sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal.
DeleteGreat job Ray, and your work blends in very nicely.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence.
DeleteReally like the horse colours Ray. I prefer renaissance wargames in 6mm. Well, most wargames now actually.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to get into 6mm, if I'm honest, just not sure I could see the things though.
DeleteMarvellous Ray. Lovely Pancerni to go with (against) those wonderful Ottomans. I really like the Pancerni (second only to the Winged Hussars, or course) and you have done them a treat.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thank you James, I'm really looking forward to the Winged Hussars, they're all prepped and undercoated, waiting for the 21st Dec!
DeleteWhat a great start to you Poles! Off the blocks already. Very nice unit 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy, they are a great army to paint up, as you well know!
DeleteNicely matched up, the old and the new.
ReplyDeleteMore Donnybrook, who'd have thunk it ?
Tell me about it!
DeleteNice work Ray and an exciting new project for you but.....do you ever actually PLAY Donnybrook...or just paint figures for it?!
ReplyDeleteI have played a few games, not enough by far. Hopefully that will all change very soon.
DeleteSuperb Pancerni, well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil.
DeleteA splendid start on a really great genre for gaming...even better that you already have the Ottomans! Looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteMe too Ed!
DeleteNice mix of different makes, Ray. They look great together - love the look of the mail armor.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, they do match in pretty well.
DeleteThey look great!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like 'em!
DeleteThey look great!
ReplyDeleteWonderful stuff Ray.
ReplyDeleteCheers

Cheers Stu!
DeleteVery nice painted figures! I like them a lot!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
Cheers Peter.
DeleteBeautiful Pancerni Ray. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth forces are so colourful and interesting.
