Its been a fairly quiet week or so at Rousell HQ, I have been trying to finish a few bits off painting all sorts, a few 25mm loaded wagons for the 1812 Retreat from Moscow and even more abandoned wagons, this time in 10mm for the 1812 Retreat from Moscow rules.
But the only thing that did get finished were these 4 bony archers, for my nephew Zach's, Jason & the Argonauts collection.
They were purchased at Salute this year from Crooked Dice and to say they were an easy paintjob wouldn't be telling any lies!
I did bulk a little.....ok a lot! at the price and I still can't believe I paid £18 for 4 bloody figures!
I must be mental!!
But such cool figures! Always a favorite movie of mine when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteIts a brilliant film!
DeleteEye-wateringly expensive figures but your nephew will love them.
ReplyDeleteI hope so Jon!
DeleteNicely and quickly done, Ray. At that price I would've taken my business elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI did think about it, but they're not figures you see very often.
DeleteCool figures, but £18!!!
ReplyDeleteI know!
DeleteLovely job Ray, they look great but that price is a bit much I would say.
ReplyDeleteOnly an idiot would buy them???
Delete£18 and they are not even wearing any clothes! :-) Nice job ….. especially in the heat!
ReplyDeleteCheers Norm!
DeleteWell done on getting any painting done in this heat! But Christ Almighty that is a LOT of money for just 4 figures. So glad I moved to 10mm decades ago now!
ReplyDeleteLuckily he's only getting 4 archers!
DeleteHardly bare-bones pricing, but nifty figures--and they do remind me of the claymation skeletons in the classic Harry Hausen film (the standard for all skeletal warriors for people of a certain age).
ReplyDelete100% Ed. That's the look, I'm going for.
DeleteGreat looking minis!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal!
DeleteThey do look good Ray but for a few quid more you could have got 30-40 plastic ones from Wargames Atlantic - have a look on the second hand page of the Caliver site - he has had a box there for years! Bad Squiddo are at the upper edge price wise - they always have been, but I guess it costs Annie the same to get the masters done and she won't sell as many as most other manufacturers. I would get all her WW2 soviet packs, but it would probably cost me five hundred quid!
ReplyDeletethey are from Crooked Dice not Bad Squiddo.
DeleteI did look at the Wargames Atlantic figures, but they look very fantasy esq. Where I need them to look Greek, if you know what I mean.
DeleteAnd Rupert's right, they're from Crooked Dice.
They might be relatively easy to paint, but could also be easy to muck up in the wrong hands. Nicely done Ray.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence! Kind words indeed!
DeleteI just watched Jason a few weeks ago, still great fun.
ReplyDeleteI love that film.
DeleteYou are such a wonderful uncle!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
Haha, I do try, gotta try and brainwash the poor lad.
DeleteWonderful figures Ray and you have done a fantastic job with them.
ReplyDeleteHopefully your nephew will love them.... and hopefully he doesn't ask for any more 😁
Lol, amen to that!
DeleteAh, the "Children of the Hydra" or just some bowmen that have overdone it a bit with the Ozempic? Anyway, nice work Ray!
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you like them.
DeleteWell I wasn't expecting those Ray, but very nicely done. I dread to think how much they would have cost if they had flesh on their bones.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it!
DeleteThey good. They wi.l be well loved for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will, Joe.
DeleteNice skeleton archers for your nephew's collection!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean.
DeleteI can hear the clickety clacking and "Arise my children kill! kill!' :-)
ReplyDeleteIts a fab film. I'm not sure who's enjoying the project more, Zach or me?
DeleteNicely done on these Ray. Non-historicals are always a bit eye-watering on price compared to historicals, I find!
ReplyDeleteTell me about it Bill, I nearly fell over when I saw the price!
DeleteA little slower time working on minis sounds darn good.
ReplyDeleteVery true, Ivy, very true.
DeleteIMO one can never have too many skeletons in one's miniatures collection. These are great, just nice simple sculpts and I really like the poses too. Good stuff Ray.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dai!
DeleteNice minis
