My haul from yesterdays Salute was a little larger than it was supposed to be!
There were a few unexpected buys and a few disappointments as well!
I was mainly interested in civilian type figures for Donnybrook and that's what I came away with.
Met up with quite a few fellow Bloggers, which was pretty cool. I stupidly didn't take any pics, but Carl from Hitting with a Double one did, so I'll pinch his pic when he posts it up.
I'll be posting my pics form the show soon....
Impulse buy No1
A Naked lady having a bath, from Col Bill's Depot Battalion figures.
Not quite sure why I bought it and how I'll fit it into a scenario, but hey its boobies!
Impulse buy No2
Once again, not sure why?? But every skirmish game should have a hidden snake shouldn't it??
It looked like Warbases were doing well, it took me a while to fight through the crowd and have a look at their new animal figures. Had a quick chat with Martin and Spider Loki. and I bought a selection of the Cows, sheep, dogs and goats for Tangiers as well as a Hay, Hand and Turnip cart, not forgetting a couple of wheelbarrows!
Impulse buy No3
More Depot Battalion figures from Col Bill
A preacher and the preached upon.
The biggest amount of dosh went to Redout Minis.....loads of Civilians from their ECW and Three Musketeers ranges! Nom nom!
I also hit Dixon Miniatures, for a bag of dead figures, a Pioneer and an artillery set.
Impulse buy No4
Another Pioneer set this time form Reiver Castings and some Scottish civilians form their
Border Reiver range. I've also got a few bits and bobs coming in the post that they didn't have with them. More dead figures, (just how many of these do I need??) and some tools
Impulse buy No 5
A selection off civilian figures from Midlam Miniatures. I'd not heard of these before, but they sold a few Arab looking civvis which of course I need. But I loved the torches they sold the most!!
The Governor and his Daughter from Black Scorpion and a bar room brawl scene from Dixons
I also bought 2 packs of dead and wounded from Warfare Minis and had a chat with League of Augsberger's Barry, Toggy and Gerry.
2 pack of Civilians from SHQ & some Dogs from Crooked Dice!
Lastly loads of dice!!
Now I've just gotta paint the buggers! But I suppose I should paint the actual figures
that'll be doing the fighting first??
Oh well!
Nice haul Ray:-)
ReplyDeleteJason
Thanks Jason!
DeleteA great haul Ray, those Warbases animals are a nice grab, but since I'm a huge fan of Redoubt I'd have to give that pick up the highest marks.:-)
ReplyDeleteChristopher
The Warbases figures are rather nice!! The Redoubt bag was heavy!!!
DeleteYou said you spent quite a bit but wow, that is a haul and a half!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I was gonna be busy for a while.
He he! I'm not actually sure how much I spent, I'm too frightened to add it all up! And it gonna take me quite a bit of time to get them painted!!
ReplyDeleteCrikey mate thats a lot o lead! I bet you sneaked it home via Posties house to hide it from the missus didn't you?!?
ReplyDeleteDamn miffed I couldn't make the show now. It looks like you had a great days shopping. In fact looking over a few other blogs it looks like everyone had a good days shopping! Me, I spent most of the day on the Motorway returning from Dorset and then a couple of wasted and overpriced hours at Chartwell - Winston Chrichills home - being told off by stuck up old biddies from National Trust....more on that in a few days! Sounds like you had the batter day by far!
I did get a bit carried away!!! Looking forward to the old biddy story!
DeleteNice one mate. You probably won't need that many dead and wounded, BUT Big Lee might! Some nice interesting stuff there. I shall look for that Wolf hound figure when I can summon the courage!
ReplyDeleteCheers Clint! I do seem to have a few dead figures!!! with more to come as well!!! Hmm? Wolfie!
DeleteThat's a fair haul indeed!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim!
DeleteIn my opinion, you can never have too many corpses or civilians. I wish you luck in painting that lot, Ray.
ReplyDeleteI wish me luck too Bryan!
DeleteNice load of loot Ray. Break out the glue and paint.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll need a can of emulsion!
DeleteImpulse or not, nice haul, Ray. I will need to take a look at Depot Battalion.
ReplyDeleteCol Bill does sell some very interesting figures! With more to come!!
DeleteA great haul Ray, waiting for the paint work!
ReplyDeleteIt might be some wait Phil, But I'll try nevertheless!
DeleteGood grab of loot there! But cobras?
ReplyDeleteI know? I know? I was thinking of the Vultures and Eagles but thought again!!
DeleteNow that's a decent stash Ray.. And even better lots of impulse buys . Now just need to get yer brushes out!
ReplyDeleteYep!
DeleteYou should did drop some cash Ray! But this is an interesting lot of figures for you and I look forward to seeing you paint them up. Especially the snakes.
ReplyDeleteMe too, should be interesting???
DeleteSounds like a great day out and a good loot !
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stefan
It was Stefan!!!
DeleteYou have a lot of painting in your near future! Awesome batch of goods. And who can resist a naked lady in a bathtub?
ReplyDeleteNaked bathtub lady is always good!!!
DeleteGood haul Ray :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers Kev!!!
DeleteWhen I see post like this I wish we could change places...
ReplyDeleteSome nice figures you found there (the naked bathwoman is my favorite)
And I am sure someday I will go to Salut as well...
Now go and paint, en enjoy your figures!
Greetings my friend!
Let's hope you can make it over for next years Salute!!
DeleteI am looking for 28mm pioneers for WSS, did you see any at Salute? Can't wait to see that pile of lead painted!
ReplyDeleteThere's some in the 7th pic down Justin, the Dixon ones, I've also answered you on TMP.
DeleteThanks, Ray! I just saw your answer on TMP and drooled over the figures...wish more manufacturers made them.
DeleteI also bought some from Riever Castings, they're in pic 8, I'll get a better pic of them and post them either here or on TMP.
DeleteHave you just taken the 'Rich Reject' crown from BigLee?
ReplyDeleteNever!
DeleteThat's probably themost impressive haul I've seen to date - you're goingto be very busy chappy in the coming weeks (months ?).
ReplyDeleteLooks that way eh??? ;0)
DeleteNice loot haul Ray - with that much spending, maybe you've taken over the title of "Rich Reject" from Lee! :)
ReplyDeleteRay and Postie are the archetype 'rish rejects'...between them they reguarly spend the cash equivelent of a small nations GDP! I'm just glad to be around to play with all the goodies they buy once they have them painted.
DeleteThere is only 1 Rish (should be Rich) Reject and we all know that's tye Big Man himself!
DeleteThe main problem I'm finding with everyones's loot posts is I keep seeing things I wish I'd bought now!
ReplyDeleteDoh!
DeleteLooks like you had a good Salute day Ray !
ReplyDeleteThe warbases animala might be very interesting, it Will be nice to see them painted up.
Yep, I can't wait to start painting!!
DeleteThat's an impressive haul
ReplyDeleteIan
Thanks Ian!
DeleteGood to see you buying plenty of 28mm stuff Ray.
ReplyDeleteIt hurt Pat, it really hurt!
DeleteThat's a pretty impressive load! But that's what Salute is for: buying stuff you don't have time to paint and trying to find somewhere to store it in the meantime!
ReplyDeleteI've got plenty of file boxes for this lot to sit in for a few years!
DeleteA very impressive haul did I spot a post box and a phone box from warbases as well?
ReplyDeleteYep you did, they looked pretty cool!
DeleteNice haul mate. Great catching up with you and your welcome to nick the blog meet pic, should have it posted up tomorrow. You think you spent lots? I think I spent more and have less to show for it!!! Plus you now to blame for my slippery slope into Donnybrook. Damn you Ray damn you to hell hehe :-)
ReplyDeleteGood lad buying Donnybrook!!! Great to catch up again!
DeleteA lot of figs !! but it seems that you have done good choices !
ReplyDeleteI like the animals and the civilians !
Cheers Pascal!
DeleteGreat swag pile, Ray; I kept to budget (for once) but almost buckled on Agema Miniatures Republican Legionaries and Velites... :-o
ReplyDeleteOnly almost????
DeleteThat's some great loot Ray! Hope you had a good day.
ReplyDeleteI did thanks!
DeleteGreat buys Ray, in my opinion the lootbag is always filled with more stuff than anticipated... I am looking forward to the painted results of your careful shopping indeed!
ReplyDeleteYep me too Sander!!!
DeleteYou have a fair amount of painting ahead of you now Ray! Nice haul!
ReplyDeleteI do don't I?? Cheers Rodger,
DeleteWhat a haul, and it even had a pair of boobies! Jealous you have such a posh show over there. Some day I'm going to plan a holiday across the pond to match up with Salute.
ReplyDeleteYou should AJ, you'd love it!!
DeleteI am rubbish at Salute shopping.
ReplyDeleteLast year I spent £31.00 - http://scrivsland.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/you-spent-how-much-at-salute.html
This year I spent £34.00 - http://scrivsland.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/the-salute-haul.html
Maybe I need to spend lest time on the games and more time with my hand in my pocket!
Blimey that's not a lot!
DeleteThat is quite a lot of impulse buys
ReplyDeleteHmm!
DeleteOf course you bought the naked lady - nothing like boobies!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some great stuff. Have fun painting everything - we expect pictures - duh!
Of course, but it may take some time!!!
DeleteT'was great to catch up!!! But what I want to know is when will Warbases start selling the Badgers!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice loot! And I like the rhyme in the title.
ReplyDeleteCheers Chris!!! I'm full of surprises!
Delete'Spider Loki' very nice - I like that.
ReplyDeleteNice to see Redoubt getting some love from you. They are a bit long in the tooth but they're still have some fabulous models. Are you doing WSS as your main 'Donnybrook' theme?
Nope not WSS , English Tangiers in 1662-83, more floppy hats I'm afraid!!
DeleteWTF! I was going to paint you a WSS officer but you pick the most bloody obscure periods Rousell! English Tangiers... Oh, puleeez...
Deletelol! Sorryyyyyyy! he he
DeleteNice haul there Ray.. am still recovering myself from the weekend.. was great to meet up with you and the rest of the bloggers.. looking forward to next years event already!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the show and it was great to put a face to the name!
DeleteYou're an impulsive man Ray! Nice loot from Salute.
ReplyDeleteI blame the birthday money burning a hole in my pocket!
ReplyDeleteWhat did Mrs. Rayolla say about the Boobie Bath Girl?
ReplyDeleteNice lot of loot you got there Ray was good to see you
