This is my version of the flag for the Earl of Clanricarde, that fought at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. The flag can be seen in action in my last post. here.
Up next for my Boyne project are the Earl of Antrim's foot regt and Sarsfield's Horse, so look out for them soon.
I've also just finished some British artillerymen for the FIW, I've just gotta take a few pics of them and then I'll get them up on the blog.
Cheers!!
Snazzy!
ReplyDeleteI like to think so.
DeleteNice work, Ray. Are these flags your art work? If so, you've got talent-plus.
ReplyDeleteSome is mine and some is taken from the net.
DeleteYou've got talent!
DeleteIt's pretty!

Cheers David!!
DeleteAnother great flag.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sean!!
Deletevery cool flag. Looking forward to more AAR's!
ReplyDeleteSoon.......hopefully?????
DeleteVery nice. Whats the translation of the scroll work?
ReplyDeleteIt translates to, One king, One Faith, One Law.
DeleteVery nice, Ray. I like the new blog banner pic, too.
ReplyDeleteCheers Joe! It's from one of our Beneath the Lily Banners games.
DeleteThe colors on this are really nice Ray and make this flag stand out. I've been meaning to ask you if you've ever painted anything outside of military figures. Have you ever painted for the dark side?
ReplyDeleteThe only Dark side figures I've painted are some Lord of the Rings figures for my nephew, and that was many moons ago!!
Deletesounds like an interesting project
ReplyDeleteRay, this is all good stuff. Have you thought about creating a separate page on which to post all your flags so that people can find them in one easy to find location?
ReplyDeleteI should really do something like that, but there is a "My Flags" link, up on the left column??
DeleteGood Strong standard there Ray with a good use of colours. What software do you use?
ReplyDeleteJust MS Paint, I'd like to get a proper graphics' programme, but they're so damn expensive.
DeleteThats very good for MS Paint. You could use GIMP and its free.
DeleteYou really do have a flair for this flag making jobby.
ReplyDeleteIn the last two cases you have mentioned you have had to make educated guesses, is ths because you have done all the well covered regiments or is is because the period was not as well recorded (or full of conflicting evidence?)
Ian
Like you said, its just not that well documented, for the Jacobite's only around 7 infantry flags are known and out of them only the Earl of Antrim's and the Kings Foot guard were in action at the Boyne. So lots of guesswork and a little artistic license is needed.
DeleteInteresting.. seems to be more work on the historical ranges.. but when done right it works.. and this works.. congrats!
ReplyDeleteTop work Ray :D
ReplyDeleteCheers!!!!
Deletenice work there!!
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Flags Ray! What software do you use?
DeleteFlags are working great Ray!
