My pal Keir asked me to have a go and paint up these two massive Dr Who figures, his good lady wife glued the figures together, then I put them in my locker at work and completely forgot all about them. Move forward in time far longer than I care to admit, when
Keir piped up " Are you gonna paint my Dr Who figures"
"Eh? What Dr Who fig.....oh shit yeh??
So here they are, they're 1/12 monsters from Airfix, they do come with the Tardis as well, but Keir must still have that. I'm quite pleased with how Mr Tennant came out, but Martha needs a little more work, the skins a little too dark and them bloody eyes nearly killed me!!!
But Keir seemed very happy with them
PS
Salute tomorrow!!!! yeeehaaaawww!!
On nights at the moment, will be home at 6 in the morning and up again at 8
just to go to the show!!
Must be mad!!

ReplyDeleteThey look great and quite a change from your 15mms
ReplyDeleteI thought thought the eyes were fine, but the lips lack a bit.Very nicely done all in all!
ReplyDeleteMartha's lips do look a bit ....big? I dunno what the correct word is??
DeleteThese are great, Ray. Every now and then it's fun to step away from the historicals and do some thing like this.
ReplyDeleteSo they say Mike?????
DeleteThey look great Tay and I like the smoothness you achieved on the clothes. Have fun at Salute!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Sorry that should say "Ray" and not "Tay"
DeleteChristopher
Cheers Chris!
DeletePretty nice work for a man named Tay.
ReplyDeleteGreat work so far Ray. I think you're right about Martha's lips - too big, and too bright as well. I'd go with more of a burgundy colour.
ReplyDeleteYeh, they do need toning down a little.
DeleteNice job Ray, far too big for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat work!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so good! Well done! By the way is Martha seeing anyone? Can you pass her my bog details? Thanks Ray I know you will do your best for me!
ReplyDeleteEmail on its way!!
DeleteNot bad!
ReplyDeleteSo, what rules do you use these with? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how you go about painting something so big but your results are excellent!
Me neither really???
DeleteVery nice there those Dr Who figures. I must look out for them myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on those - they look so realistic. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteExcellent job on the shading. Hey, better late than never, right?

ReplyDeleteGreat to see you doing some Airfix Ray, there is hope for you after all!
ReplyDeleteI think you have done a stunning job here Ray. The Dr is fantastic and I really like the jeans on Martha!
ReplyDeleteSee you later mate. Great to see a bit of variety in both scale and subject matter. Good to see you preparing for the Next Analogue challenge... paint 100 of this scale and WIN!
ReplyDeleteImpressive, really impressive...enjoy!
ReplyDeletePhil.
Excellent effort on the Dr and Martha there Ray! 1/12 they must be massive figures?
ReplyDeleteNice paintjob
ReplyDeleteThe first time I saw these, straight away I thought the poses looked a bit "oooer Madam"...put them facing each other.......the look on his face and the way he´s holding that Screw-driver........:-D
Now now you naughty boy!!!
DeleteNice effort on the mini's erm maxi's and have fun at Slaute!
ReplyDeleteReally nice work. Do you find it takes a different technique to work on a figure so much larger than your usual? I've never worked on anything so large, so I was just curious.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at Salute!
These are the largest models I've ever painted and I wasn't really sure how to tackle them, I tried layers of very watered down paint on the jeans, I don't usually do that, but I think it worked quite well.
Deletethey do look massive! The fans will love them!
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Ray. I think these giant figures must be very difficult to paint.
ReplyDeleteVery nice.
Excellent work Ray
ReplyDeleteThe jeans as mentioned are really great
ian
