At the end of January, we had a long weekend trip to Amsterdam. The last time I visited Holland was back in the 1980's on a school trip. Gotta admit I was looking forward to visiting the Rijk's Museum.
We only spent around 3 hours in the museum, but it was 3 hours well spent.
So here are plenty of photos to bore you all rigid!
That's a big sword!!
The Black Watch - Being restored
Ooooh! Guns, lots of lovely guns...and lots of handles with sharp bits attached.
ReplyDeleteThe ships. Any idea what scale they could be? I´d love to get my Hands on em.
Ships were Big scale. Not big enough for me and you to fit in, but still big!
Deletehame. Still, bit of electronics, make so the guns could actually fire and then find a big enough Pond to launch them onto.
DeleteEuropean museums are so cool! I still have fond memories of the one in Edinburgh. And yes, that is a big sword!
ReplyDeleteThere's so much history to discover in Europe.
DeleteOOO! Amazing and sooo inspirational stuff! That must be awesome trip!
ReplyDeleteSure was Viluir.
DeleteWell! This was three hours very well spent! Loved seeing the Master's artwork and the arms and armor. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNo problem Jonathan.
DeleteCracking pictures - looks like three hours weren't enough!
ReplyDeleteI could have spent all day in there to be honest. But we had to ladies waiting for us in the cafe area and a visit to the Heineken museum booked in next!
DeleteMissed pretty much all that when I went! Lots of lovely pictures, the maritime museum was also very good, did you make it there too?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Afraid not. I'll visitvthete next time.
DeleteGreat pics, Ray! I visited Amsterdam on a rare work trip last year and was really disappointed that I couldn’t squeeze a visit to this museum. It looks like I missed even more than I thought :-0
ReplyDeleteWell worth a visit. It's not actually that far away either?
DeleteOn my places to visit this summer. Are you sure that's the Black Watch being restored? Possibly the Night Watch. ;)
ReplyDeleteAhem! You could well be right Sir M. 10/10 for spotting my deliberate mistake..... ahem!

Didn't see the library? Or know it was there?

ReplyDeleteCheers Lee.
DeleteExcellent report and some excellent pics. You do know Legio XII are the best?
ReplyDeleteOf course George. But he doesn't sell a XII Tshirt......yet.
DeleteThat's one I have now added to my list. Lovely photos Ray, and I particularly like the way you have taken them and without your reflection in the glass, something I have yet to master.
ReplyDeleteWell worth a visit Lawrence. Pure luck there are no reflections if me in any of the pics.
DeleteA great, great thank you for this journey!!!
