RP No64 Russo-Japanese War Generals

Japanese Army Overal Commander

At the end of the Analouge Painting Challenge I had these Generals very, very  nearly finished, only the gold and silver was left to do along with the final once over and basing. Unfortunatley they didn't make it to the final cut, so along with the recently posted ACW disordered markers. They would have given me approx 530 points, which would have been nice. They were finished off over the past weekend and handed over to Postie. All figures are from Irregular Miniatures, although some are from their Franco-Prussian range, which fit in quite well with the uniforms from the Russo-Japanese War.

Japanese Army Commanders, 3 to a base.

Single based leaders are Brigade Commanders.

Japanese Division Commanders.

 The Russian Overal Army Commander.

 Russian Army Commanders.

 A Cossack Army Commander.

  2. Ditto Dan's comment. Ray, did you use plastic card for these bases? Thanks. Great job.

    1. No, the bases are 1mm thick artist's card, its cheap and easy to cut.

    2. I think plastic cards in bases makes it more adorable and captivating...

  3. Do you have clones locked in the basement doing all your painting? That's the only way I can see that you're pumping the figures out so quickly! :D

    Excellent work again, Ray!

  8. Do you paint in your sleep Ray? Good God man, I've never seen anyone paint this much. And I always like to see your horses Ray, they're my favorite.

  9. Ray, do you have your girls help with all this painting or are you painting while at work? Because no normal, married father has THAT much time for painting.

I know, you have one of those time turner do-dads from Harry Potter!

    1. I'm very lucky, I do most of my painting at work. I work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 12 hour shifts, so that means I paint roughly 7-8 hours per shift, which ain't bad at all!!!

  10. Y'kno.. the only thing that goes through my mind is I've never seen a Japanese person with a huge beard like the commanders have. Facial hair yes, beard sure, but nothing as big and burly as that.

  26. Fab looking figures Ray! Look forward to hearing of how they get on leading their respective armies in combat!

And if you are doing most of your painting at work then you must either have a very understanding employer or you'd better hope they are not on the blogsphere reading your posts!!

  36. Really inspiring stuff Ray - makes gaming more enjoyable seeing fresh ideas well put together. Unfortunately I might have to stop reading this blog cos you resurrected my old craving for the WSS and now it's the RJW. I simply can't afford it . . .
